This is an introductory course in material engineering which provides the students an understanding about material structures and properties. The types of materials to be dealt with are metal, non metal, polymers, lubricants, and ceramics. The properties of such materials are also to be studied. The overall aim of the course is to help the students develop his/her ability to select proper (substituted) materials.
