In today’s economic environment, one of the driving forces behind focusing on manufacturing as well as service operations is to “reduce the total cost.” Prior research has found that to accomplish this objective, many executives are attempting to synchronize manufacturing/service operations by deploying a common platform to manage maintenance, production, quality, and inventory.
This course provides the students with the knowledge of macro level of policies which influence any nation in production of goods and services. This subject gives an overview of globalization and its impact in the scope of manufacturing. Topics discuss among others are: globalization of world economy, trade barriers, enterprise type and global locations and strategies. In sort, students will learn about globalization and its influence to manufacturing/service operations.
In micro level policies this subject enriched with company level policies/ management to improve company’s competitiveness. This covers manufacturing and service operations such as: Forecasting, production plan, supply chain, logistics control, inventory and warehousing
